Founded with a vision to empower Africa through action and awareness, the Princess of Africa Foundation was established by the legendary Yvonne Chaka Chaka to confront one of the continent’s greatest challenges, malaria. Born from her personal encounters across Africa and her role as UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador against Malaria, the foundation works to educate communities, provide life-saving resources, and advocate for sustainable health solutions. Through partnerships with governments, global institutions, and grassroots initiatives, the Princess of Africa Foundation has become a voice for the voiceless, echoing Yvonne’s belief that “if you have the platform, use it to make someone else’s life better.”

A multi-award-winning artist, humanitarian, and educator, Yvonne Chaka Chaka has long used her influence to champion the causes closest to her heart. Beyond her musical legacy, she has served as Ambassador for Roll-Back Malaria, UNISA, City of Johannesburg Tourism, and Nelson Mandela’s 46664 Campaign. Her leadership and grace also saw her appointed honorary Colonel in the South African Air Force, where she continues to inspire discipline and excellence. Named among South Africa’s Top 100 Heroes and honoured with the Rotary Paul Harris Fellowship Award, Yvonne embodies her own mantra: “Service is the rent we pay for living on this earth.”

Guided by the enduring lessons of her late mother, Sophie Machaka, Yvonne’s story is one of humility, faith, and purpose. From modest beginnings to international acclaim, she has remained grounded in the spirit of Ubuntu, “I am because you are.” The Princess of Africa lives this philosophy daily, using her voice to unite, heal, and uplift. Her journey reminds us that true greatness lies not in recognition, but in service and that when compassion leads, transformation follows.
